Gurugram: CARS24 has unveiled Crashfree India, a dedicated nonprofit initiative aiming to eliminate all road crash deaths in the country by 2040.
As India accounts for nearly 11% of global road fatalities, the launch of Crashfree India marks a pivotal moment in reimagining road safety through innovation, systems thinking, and civic collaboration.

Positioned as a national movement, Crashfree India will address five foundational pillars:
- Crash Data Infrastructure: Development of one of India’s largest open-access crash data platforms to identify blackspots, predict accident-prone zones, and support AI-powered road safety tools.
- Policy Innovation: Collaboration with transport departments and law enforcement to shift from reactive fines to proactive, enforceable safety frameworks.
- Human-Centered Road Design: Partnering with civic agencies and urban planners to redesign flawed infrastructure that endangers lives.
- Behavioral Change at Scale: Running grassroots campaigns based on behavioral science, not fear, to shift public attitudes and habits.
- Technology for Safety: Building APIs, crash-reporting tools, real-time safety alerts, and integrating safety scores into vehicle resale and fleet systems.
“Road deaths aren’t random accidents – they are the outcome of systemic failure,” said Vikram Chopra, CEO & Co-founder of CARS24. “Crashfree India is not about better business – it’s about building a better India. We might not reach zero overnight, but we will never stop striving for it.”
Crashfree India: Amplifying Awareness of Good Samaritan Law
Crashfree India will also amplify awareness of India’s Good Samaritan Law, which protects those who assist accident victims. Despite existing legal safeguards, public hesitancy persists. The initiative aims to normalize bystander intervention through awareness campaigns, training, and national recognition programs.

A National Call to Action
Crashfree India is now live and actively seeking partnerships with governments, NGOs, research institutions, urban designers, startups, and everyday citizens. By uniting innovation, policy, and public engagement, the initiative strives to make road safety a national imperative.
